He received his M.Sc. degree in microengineering and a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience robotics from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2002 and 2006, respectively. His main research interests include physical human-robot interaction, rehabilitation and neuroscience robotics, assistive technology and the neural control of movement. He is one of the pioneers in the field of neuroscience robotics to investigate sensorimotor control and related dysfunctions following neurological injury, and has made significant contributions to robot-assisted assessment and therapy, with a special focus on sensorimotor hand function. Dr. Gassert has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and is co-inventor of 8 patents.
