The influence of problem-based learning model on students' ability toward understanding mathematics concepts in the material of linear equations one variable
This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the problem-based learning model on the mathematics subject matter chapter of one-variable linear equations on the ability to understand concepts. This research is quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental). Implementation of research at the IT Darul Fikri North Bengkulu Private Middle School (SMPS) located on Jl Mayor Salim Batubara Karang Anyar Village 1 Arga Makmur North Bengkulu, with the subjects in the study being students of the IT Darul Fikri North Bengkulu Private Middle School (SMPS) class VII, totaling 44 students. The data collection technique in this study is by using a test instrument. And for the data analysis technique using descriptive analysis, normality test and homogeneity test. Based on the hypothesis, the average value of the posttest shows that the average value of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class. In the experimental class, the posttest average value was 85.59, and in the control class, the posttest average value was 75.91. This means that there is a difference in the average value between the two classes of 9.68. So, it can be concluded that in this study the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the experimental class was better than the control class.
