The Study of Amulet Impacted by a Bullet using FEA
Nowadays, a lot of crimes news appear on the different types of mass media. People can be considered who have occasion to survive from gunman by amulet. The amulet is attached on the chest under shirt that may be a cause of survival. This research aims to study the behavior of the amulet object impacted by copper 9 mm FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullet at various conditions. The amulet is made of metals. The finite element analysis (FEA) was used to study the different conditions of shooting. The results reveal that amulet made of hard material like a stainless steel or brass can helps to have a chance of survival but can injure with maximum pressure approx. 500 MPa transfer from the bullet on the victim’s chest. However, most of amulets are made of copper, brass and silver alloy. Author recommended three millimeters thickness with high yield stress. The shooting angle around 30 degrees can absorb the energy and deviates trajectory of the bullet by bullet and amulet move together. Nevertheless, increasing impact angle leads to more energy absorption and deviation the bullet after impacted the amulet. The people hang the amulet with them has possible a chance of survival. At least they might be wounded on chest that’s all.
