So the wider bandwidth antenna for handsets is required. In addition, built-in antennas become normal. In our previous paper [1] [2], in order to make a small size and lower profile antenna for handsets, the built-in folded dipole antenna (BFDA) and U-shaped folded dipole antenna (UFDA) have been introduced and analyzed. Those antennas can be built in a small volume and placed very close to the rectangular ground plane (GP), which represents a shielding plate used in the handset unit, because they have a folded structure and high radiation resistance. In a result, the relative bandwidths of BFDA and UFDA for VSWR≤2 are approximately 39.3% and 35.6%, respectively.
