Every language has its own phonemic system, which holds unique as well as common features. A language shares some phonemes with other languages, but no two languages have the same phonemic inventory. This article makes a contrastive analysis of the phonemic systems of English and Bangla. The aspects of similarities as well as dissimilarities between the two have been explored in detail. It brings into focus the inventory of phonemes of the two languages along with relevant phonetic and phonological characteristics. The vowel and consonant phonemes of the two languages have been compared with sufficient examples, making it clear where and how they are identical and different. 对比音位学是把不同的音位系统放在一起，找出有关语言音位之间的异同点的研究领域。每一种语言都有自己的音位系统，既有共同的特点，也有独特的特点。一种语言与其他语言共享一些音位，但没有两种语言具有相同的音位库。本文对英语和孟加拉语的音位系统进行了对比分析。详细探讨了两者的异同之处。它把重点放在两种语言的音素清单以及相关的语音和语音特征上。两种语言的元音和辅音音素已经用足够的例子进行了比较，清楚地表明它们在哪里和如何相同和不同。关键词:对比;孟加拉语;英语;音素DOI: 10.3329/dujl.v2i4.6898达卡大学语言学杂志Vol.2(4) August 2009 pp.19-42
