It has great application advantages in understanding sports knowledge and mastering technology. The purpose of this paper is to study the football teaching in Colleges and Universities under the background of information technology. This paper mainly discusses the theoretical basis of the application of modern information technology in football teaching and the application of modern information technology in football teaching, teaching design and teaching effect research. Through the attitude of experts, questionnaire survey and interview of students, as well as the teaching evaluation of experimental class and control class, the following conclusions are drawn: through the significance level of 0.05, t value is tested. Using SPSS11.0 to calculate statistics shows that there are significant differences in theoretical scores between the experimental class and the control class, and there are significant differences in technology and skills between the experimental class and the control class. Multimedia teaching materials and physical education teaching platform can not only facilitate teachers' teaching, but also meet the needs of students' learning, and enable students to form a good learning interest and attitude.
