The converter integrates various sources to a single DC bus making it applicable for inverter interfacing. The load power can be apportioned amongst the input sources. A single inductor is used in this topology that makes it light weight and less expensive. Depending on the charging and discharging state of storage component, two different modes of operation are explained in this paper.
