The findings also indicate that students have a low assessment of their ability to innovate.Research limitations/implications—The paper only concerns students’ perceptions towards the effectiveness of innovation education. Results from this paper are limited in terms of their ability to demonstrate “actual” outcomes of innovation education.Practical implications—The paper provides an important exploratory analysis of the state of innovation education in China to enable further research to be taken in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
