Effective approach for Redundancy in compliance with ISO26262
Automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) of a component decides the criticality associated with the system. This criticality involves cost and effort by original equipment manufacturers for developing the product. Since criticality increases with increase in ASIL, it is one of the major disadvantages on the part of OEMs to develop the complete system according to highest ASIL among all its components. In this paper, an efficient technique to resolve the issue of criticality by ASIL Decomposition is proposed in a detail way. In the later part of this paper, the incorporation of this technique to the automobile industry for developing an efficient system is explained using a case study.
