The traveling wave principles of double terminal fault locating method is described, and the main causes of the generation of errors in actual application are investigated. A novel double terminal fault locating method is presented based on the existing fault locating method. The arriving intervals of the travelling wave from the fault location, reflected wave from fault location and reflected wave from opposite bus are recorded.
