Հայաստանի Հանրապետության քրեակատարողական հիմնարկների որոշ արդի հիմնախնդիրները/Some Current Problems of RA Penitentiary Institutions

The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive view of the current tasks of the penitentiary institutions of the Republic of Armenia. The paper is about the historical background of the penitentiary institutions of the Republic of Armenia, the existing problems and shortcomings of the re-socialization of prisoners and convicted persons in these institutions. According to the results of the study, it was recorded that the legislation in force in Armenia regulating the activities of penitentiary institutions fully complies with international standards, but in practice there are no mechanisms for its application yet. Proposals/recommendations were made for the introduction of these mechanisms, the creation of new and small penitentiary institutions. The main changes in the new Penitentiary Code of the Republic of Armenia were also presented, and it was compared with the regulation of the previous code.
