He was a great scholar of Ahādīth and jurisprudence. He started to discuss the hadīth sciences and wrote Ikhtilāf-al-Ḥadīth. In this article the methodology and style of al-Shāfiʿī regarding conciliation of Contradictory Ahādīth has been discussed and analysed in the light of his book Ikhtilāf-al-Ḥadīth. He has discussed many issues in which he had found contradiction among the Ahādīth. In this article, his approach to conciliate the opposite Ahādīth has been analyses. Examples from his book Ikhtilāf-al-Ḥadīth have been taken and discussed.
