On November 27, 2015, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam voted to pass the amended Criminal Code that takes effect from January 1, 2018. The introduction of the Criminal Code in 2015 marked a breakthrough development in Vietnam's criminal policy and legislative thinking.
