Trial development of sanshin musical performance assistive device for people with physical disabilities of the extremities

This paper presents a sanshin musical performance assistive device for people with physical disabilities of the extremities. We made a portable assistive device to press strings against the board of sanshin, Okinawan musical instrument. From the experimental result, it was found that two persons with muscular dystrophies could appropriately play the sanshins using the assistive devices.
