The feed comprises a non-resonant circular metallic patch with four symmetric stubs, fed by a coaxial probe. The monopole mode of the DRA is excited by the patch rather than the probe, hence the need to drill an axial hole in the DR for conventional probe insertion (invasive feed) is avoided.
