The Effects of Augmented Reality Applications On 2nd Grade Students’ Learning Levels of Idioms
In this study, the effects of augmented reality applications on improving the idioms learning levels of 2nd-grade students were examined. The study was carried out with 29 students in the experimental and control groups studying in the second grade of a primary school in Eskişehir. In the experimental group, the idioms were shown with augmented reality applications. The experimental group application lasted for two weeks, and ten idioms in the 2nd grade Turkish course book with the theme of "Health, Sports and Play" were examined in turn. Developed by the researchers as a data collection tool in the research; "Idioms-Matching Form", "Idioms-Filling the Blank Form", and "Idioms-Sentence Forming Form" were used. In the study, a static group pre-test Post-test pattern, one of the pre-experimental patterns, was used. The data obtained were analyzed with the statistical package program and found a statistically significant difference between the groups in favor of the experimental group. In addition, the answers given to the Idioms-Sentence Forming Form were evaluated by content analysis method in terms of exhibiting the change in the students' learning levels of idioms and supporting the research result. Based on these findings, it can be said that augmented reality applications effectively improve the idioms learning levels of primary school 2nd grade students. AR applications' effect on other vocabulary components can also be determined.
