In this case, the engineers prefer the buried abutment in their projects. This bridge abutment and the approach slab must ensure an unobstructed and smooth ride to the bridge. According to the inspection of bridge crossings in Ukraine, several problems with the abutment elements of bridge crossings and adjacent approaches were revealed, significantly affecting road traffic's reliability, durability, and safety. Defects that occur during the operation of bridge crossings and their impact on the technical condition of the structure are investigated.
