Many organizations in Nigeria especially public owned organizations, hardly conduct orientation for new hires and those who do, do not do so on a regular basis. In such organizations, many employees only learn about organizational values, norms and culture on the job. The story is not different in Peace Frequency Modulation (FM) Radio Station, Maiduguri. The aim of this study therefore is to examine how organizational socialization impact on employee’s performance in the media industry. The study adopts a single case research approach and uses the purposive sampling method to select the participants. A total of 22 staffs of Peace FM Radio in Maiduguri were sampled. Respondents which include the general manager and every other staff of the radio station were administered with the interview questionnaires. The results of the collated questionnaires were analyzed using pie charts. The study finds out that, majority of the respondents strongly agreed that motivation played a big role in employee performance in an organization. There is a correlation between organizational socialization and employee performance in an organization. New employees in the organization learned about the culture, values and norms at the point of entry and throughout their stay in the Radio organization, and that superiors and co-workers help to pass the organizational culture to new employees once they are employed. The study also found that organizational socialization contributed to the employee’s performance in Peace FM station. The study concluded that organizational socialization is necessary for the performance of any organization.
