In a real-time system, a repetitive task can be scheduled as a periodic task or an adaptive task to meet its timing requirement. For a periodic task, the deadline is always one period interval from the ready time and the current deadline will become the ready time for the next task instance. Whereas for an adaptive task, the deadline is set to one period interval from the completion of the previous task instance and the ready time can be set anywhere before the deadline. Periodic task scheduling has be researched extensively in the past. The authors study the scheduling of adaptive tasks. This study is motivated by the study of resource allocation for a radar system with adaptive sensors, where the resources would be used more efficiently if the sensor tasks are scheduled as adaptive tasks.<>
