Two points showed evident abnormities just before this earthquake. The flow discharges of Ligou and Qingshui showed medium or long-term anomaly, while the temperature of thermal spring in Qingshui showed short-impending anomaly. Besides, the water level, flow and temperature in some stations recorded a different degree of coseismic response. The configurations of these responses included sudden rise, sudden drop and slow-change type. The duration of these responses varied. Digital-observed water level and temperature recovered in a time from 10 minutes to several hours after the earthquake, while the traditional man-observed flow lasted 1 to 2 months.
