This study, through qualitative analysis of the tendency of virtual learning community, the potential of pervasive computing technology as well as the modality research in classroom context, discussed the prospects of applying pervasive computing technology to the construction of network interactive modality in foreign language teaching within the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics. It was revealed that network interactive modality is the best choice for current interactive teaching and learning as it can optimize the interpersonal function of classroom discourse.
