Monitoring the resistive current of MOA is the most efficient way to ascertain its operational state since the resistive current is the most observable characteristic when MOA is faulty. Based on phase analysis, this paper proposed a new method for obtaining the resistive current of MOA. By taking into account the effect of inter-phase coupling capacitance and the third harmonic in power system, a model of three-phase MOAs operated at the 10kV was created in MATLAB for the resistive current calculation under different conditions.
