Analysis of end-to-end delay based on enhanced-EFCI congestion control algorithm for ABR service
For supporting the available bit rate (ABR) service in ATM networks, existing feedback-based rate control schemes mostly employ a single static buffer threshold at each switching node as the forewarning of congestion. EFCI is one of the simplest ABR congestion control mechanisms. An enhanced explicit forward congestion indication (E-EFCI) congestion control algorithm is proposed. The results and analysis of computer simulation using the E-EFCI congestion control algorithm by selecting the control parameters properly show that the end-to-end delay of ABR service is smaller and the link utilization is higher than those using EFCI congestion control algorithm.
