A review of approaches to the automation of normative control of technical documentation is given. It is shown that the central place in the procedure for normative control of the graphics of the drawings for a given class of parts is occupied by the analysis of the geometric shape of the part according to its drawing. To perform the analysis procedure, a structural (grammatical) approach is proposed, a grammar and elements, from which the form of parts is composed, are presented. The procedure for preliminary processing of the drawing is described.
