End-to-end QoS of multiclass traffic in WCDMA and Diffserv network
With the growth of wireless industry, demand for high-speed wireless data services is expected to overtake voice services and a hybrid wireless wideband CDMA/ wireline Internet protocol (IP)-based network will be the main platform for providing multimedia services to both mobile and fixed users. We first present a multiclass admission control scheme with UMTS QoS classes in the DiffServ IP network. We further extend this scheme for end-to-end admission control from the 3G WCDMA to the DiffServ IP networks and investigate how to interconnect a future wireless network with the Internet for seamless end-to-end information transmission. Simulation results show that the scheme provides flexible and efficient multiclass QoS guarantees over the end-to-end connections.
