Effects of different waveform interference sources on radar system performance
This paper investigates aspects of radar performance in the presence of different classes of interference from radar and communication systems. Methods for reducing the interference effects on radar systems are also included within this paper. It is found that the majority of interfering signals can be considered as band limited white noise once passed through the radar's sub-systems. Various modifiers are presented that are applied to interfering signals to allow this representation. Thereby this study has produced “rules of thumb” for deploying radar systems, which provide an estimation of the likely effects of placing different systems within close proximity to radars.
