Aplicação de pilares parciais em lavras do tipo sublevel stoping. Estudo de caso: Mina Pilar, Minas Gerais, Brasil.
: In Pilar underground mine, owned by Jaguar Mining Inc., hanging wall instability is a constant challenge, which can result in considerable overbreak. One of the most important factors involved in this type of instability is the contact between layers of banded iron formation and carbonaceous schist, which occurs along the orebody hanging wall. Several actions have been taken as a joint effort between Operations, Planning, Rock Mechanics and Geology aimed at improving stope stability. Among them is leaving temporary rib pillars, which are later recovered after sublevel rockfilling. This decision was successful in increasing stability and decreasing overbreak, therefore it became a standard practice.
