The author identifies and examines the problem of the lack of an effectively functioning system of professional orientation and training of in-demand personnel, considering the peculiarities of the labour market and demographic processes in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. The study identifies the main barriers to forming an effective system of professional self-determination and training of necessary specialists and priorities in solving the accumulated problems in this area.
