The user community of internet has exponentially grown in the last decade and it is continuing to grow every. To cater the need of mobile users and to evade the expensive wired communication, the next generation users need an effective wireless design. Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) is proving to be a cost-efficient and infrastructure independent network. However, there still exist a number of technical challenges in this area. To provide a better understanding, this article describes the architecture, applications and implementation in various geographical areas.
