A Triple-Band Monopole Antenna with Dual-Polarization Characteristics
A novel and compact triple-band Y-shaped monopole antenna with dual polarization characteristics for WLAN and WiMAX applications is proposed. The antenna mainly comprises a partial ground with two rectangle slots in the center, a microstrip-fed Y-shaped radiating patch that consists of two unequal monopole arms with a middle monopole embedded. The antenna structure is extremely simple and occupies small space. Experimental datas show that the antenna can provide three separate impedance bandwidths of 371 MHz (centered at 2.4 GHz), 50 MHz (centered at 3.5 GHz) and 2790 MHz (centered at 5.8 GHz). In addition, the antenna is circularly polarized in the operating bands (2.365-2.57 GHz and 5.73-6.07 GHz). Furthermore, the antenna shows monopole-like radiation patterns and stable antenna gains across the three operating bands, making it suitable for WLAN and WiMAX practical applications.
