The metamaterial fins change the radiation pattern of the monopole to a sectoral beam in the azimuth plane with a significant front-to-back ratio, and the elevation peak relocates normal to the monopole due to a metal cap. An experimental model is built with six manufactured fin inserts inside an additively manufactured (3D-printed) holder that surrounds the monopole.
