A proper grounding mesh design is a vital part of a substation designing. To ensure the safety for personnel as well as for the equipment in a substation, a grounding mesh is a must. The compatibility of the proposed design has been checked by forming a calculation by two ways, one is manually done by usual Microsoft Excel and the other one through a software CYMGRD. Three important criteria (touch potential, step potential and ground potential rise) have been focused for checking the suitability of the design. After that a comparison have been done between these two methodologies. The design of the grounding system has carried out according to the standard of IEEE 80-2000.
