A framework for supporting management in distributed information systems development
Increasing tendency towards globalisation and outsourcing of software and information systems (IS) development poses a number of challenges and difficulties that companies have to deal with. Quite a few studies have been conducted which have identified a set of problems as well as potential benefits of distributed systems development. In this paper we propose a framework characterising the domain of distributed information systems development (DISD) which aims to help project managers to analyse DISD project situation, identify potential problems and therefore evaluate project risks. Besides, the framework aims to indicate prospective solutions to each type of problem.
