A Study to Analyze the Digital Competence of Pre-service Teachers and In-service Teachers in China

The development of information technology in education, the digitization of educators and pre-educators have received world attention, as well as in China for nearly a decade. Taking China as a case study, this paper identifies efforts and challenges on Chinese teachers’ digital competence. This doctoral thesis's main objectives are to investigate the actual status about digital competence of pre-service teachers and in-service teachers in China, especially in Anhui province, and create their digital competence profile. This research carried out a systematic literature review and identified the digital competence frameworks applied in other regions. From these evidences, the research will focus on the quantitative approach study in six universities of Anhui province and its capital Hefei, which carries out data collection and analysis to answer the research questions. Lastly, we would like to provide information for new teaching strategies and recommendations for improving digital competence.
