In this paper, we characterize the superposition of TCP sessions and we study the influence of transmission parameters on traffic burstiness. Particularly, we show the relation between TCP traffic characteristics and the loss rate observed on transmission links. Then we propose aggregate traffic model for TCP sessions allowing faster execution while preserving TCP sessions dynamic behavior. The results show that our aggregate TCP session model is suitable when activity periods are very short compared to idle periods. In particular, this is true in wireless networks
