Clinical Studies on the General Anesthesia in the Dog

Succinyl choline-chloride was used to produce temporary paralysis and premedication in 45 dogs.The dogs were administered by i/m injections at 0.1 mg/kg, 0.25 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg, 0.75 mg/kg and by i/v injections at 0.025 mg/kg, 0.05 mg/kg, 0.1 mg/kg.At the i/v injection 0.05 mg/kg the effects were remarkable in the 12 dogs, but group (5 dogs) of i/m injection 0.75 mg/kg and group (5 dogs) of i/v injection 0.1 mg/kg died in cardiac arrest, and other doses were not effective.E.C.G. and P.T.G. studies on all, dogs demonstrated effects on the cardiac conduction mechanisum, and indicated myocardial injury, particularly on the atrium-cardis.
