Allah has intended to create a caliph on earth, and as a manifestation of this will He created man. Humans are made up of two different species, male and female. Hz. Allah has made marriage and marriage legitimate for the continuation of the human race, which consists of different species, and has forbidden adultery. Therefore, human beings are creatures that live in society. There are certain values that are inevitable for the society to maintain its existence. If these values are lost, the order of life will be destroyed, corruption and evil will spread everywhere. The duty of servitude, which is the purpose of man's creation, is forgotten and the person is deprived of the eternal bliss of the hereafter. At the forefront of these values is the family institution. Because the family is the most important basic building block that makes up the society and the state. Therefore, the existence of the society, the state and even the legal systems depend on the continuation of a regular family institution. Because the family is a bridge between society and individuals. Therefore, the family institution, which is the smallest and basic element of the social structure, has been the most important institution in all divine religions throughout history. One of the two essential elements that make up the family is the woman. However, the status of women in society has always been discussed in pre-Islamic societies. In this study, the status of women in the pre-Islamic Assyrian, Greek, Roman and Arab societies of the Age of Ignorance and the religions of Confucianism, Judaism and Christianity are discussed. In addition, evaluations have been made about the status that Islam has attributed to women, unlike these civilizations and religions. It can be said that Islam values women and regards them as an important element of the family and society, that women are given their true identity, that their human rights are given up by getting rid of the negative practices that have been against them for centuries. In the study, the status of women will be examined under the title of pre-Islamic societies and Islamic Law, and the originality of Islamic Law will be proved regarding the status of women.
