Condition Monitoring of these motors with the help of Motor Current Signature Analysis is a bit challenging to electrical engineers. This is due to the fact that normal Fourier Transform technique is insufficient in processing the current signals from these motors. So this paper aims at detection of rotor faults (crucial part of condition monitoring) in Brushless DC Motors using advanced Fourier Transform techniques. Short Time Fourier Transform is one such basic technique.
