The research is a descriptive qualitative study. The subjects were the students of class VIII D. They were selected by using a purposive sampling technique. They were grouped into three groups, namely the group of high learning autonomy, the group of medium learning autonomy, and the group of low learning autonomy. The data were collected using independent learning questionnaires, math literacy skills tests, interviews, and documentation. The results indicated that the students with high learning autonomy tended to formulate problems, used mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning, and were able to interpret, apply, and evaluate the results obtained. The students with medium learning autonomy could formulate problems and use mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning to the problems given.
