There are various methods to combine a field analysis with a system simulation. The difference between these methods is a trade-off between calculation speed, flexibility and accuracy. In this paper we have chosen the reduced order modeling via the co-energy method [Udo Kllat Jens, 2002]. In this approach the field analysis is done during the system simulation. At each time-step during the simulation a field analysis is carried out. The results from the field analysis for this time-step are used as inputs for the system simulation. This paper deals with the problem of modeling and simulation of switched reluctance motor, given its design parameters, to evaluate the effectiveness using MAGNET6.0. Three type of models where simulated and results were analyzed. Based on these results some modifications are suggested in the manufacturing process of the specified motor to increase its efficiency and reduce the cost of production. Some modifications in the design to eliminate the disadvantages like acoustic nose, torque ripple can be incorporated in the design for better performance.
