Examination toward Development of Educational Content Using 3D Printer at a Jellyfish Aquarium*
The importance of using 3D printers is increasing in Japanese education. We have been exploring the development of educational content using 3D printers at a jellyfish aquarium. In university classes taught by one of the authors, he asked students to consider "a system that allows anyone to create jellyfish-like creatures using a commercially available 3D printer." The students proved that such a system could produce soft jellyfish-like objects using a commercially available 3D printer. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that printed soft materials could be bonded with ordinary adhesive. In describing these approaches, we show that the use of 3D printers offers possibilities in expanding educational activities at aquariums.
