A queuing based available bandwidth estimation algorithm for a space bundle link
In a space Disruption-Tolerant Network (DTN), estimating available bandwidth is difficult due to high dynamics in the bundle link, such as obviously changing propagation time and restrained forwarding capability. In this paper, we present a queuing theoretic algorithm for single-hop available bandwidth estimation over a space bundle link. In the proposed algorithm, we estimate the available bandwidth by predicting the network traffic according to the statistics of bundle delivery delay, which is obtained theoretically by using a well-designed M/D/1 queuing model. Moreover, we provide a specific bundle format for implementing the proposed algorithm into a DTN stack. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively estimate the available bandwidth of the space dynamic link.
