Amplifying traditional switchboards to smart was possible at the cost of losing the ability to operate them by mechanical switching. This paper presents an invention of a Smart SwitchBox that can be complimented in the existing modular switchboards to modify the traditional Switches to Smart Switches using the Internet of Things. The Smart SwitchBox is controlled by a networking device such as a mobile or personal computer that has the ability for connecting to WiFi or the internet. After the installation of the SwitchBox, it has to be connected to a cloud-based application that will be sending commands to the particular switches on the smart switchbox. The SwitchBox can be programmed with the number of switches that are required by the user or the room. The system could be controlled manually as well with no issues of reverse toggling of the switches because of the bi-controlling option.
