This paper introduces the essence of granular computing, the basic model and its application in image processing in detail. In view of the difficulty in acquiring current image data knowledge, the image processing methods are divided into three parts: image segmentation, image recognition and classification, and other technologies. The contribution of the granular computing model to image granulation in recent years is discussed preliminarily.
