"The Premodern World" aims to teach historical thinking as well as historical content, impart a basic grasp of the premodern past, and stimulate the development of largescale frameworks for historical analysis. Although this course has no prerequisites and assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, students are presumed to be capable of critical reflection upon both lectures and readings.
