The range spreading EW technique against the compressed pulse
Pulse compression is commonly used in radar systems to obtain a high range resolution. In electronic warfare (EW), the noise jamming can be selected as one of the EW techniques against the pulse compression waveform. However, there is a disadvantage that a high jamming to signal ratio is required. Thus, a more efficient EW technique is needed. In this paper, we propose a deceptive technique of the range spreading against the pulse compression signal. The proposed method is a technique to extend the echo range using chirp noise instead of the noise jamming for the pulse compression signal. The simulation results using the proposed method showed that the echo range of the radar was extended.
