Router emulation plays a significant role in network emulation. Based on cloud platform and virtualization technology, this paper researches emulation technology that can support various router functions, e.g., router protocols, packet filtering, priority policy, and quality of service (QoS). First, based on virtualization technologies, the emulation of router protocols is implemented by using router software technology. Then, Iptables and traffic control (TC) are used to implement emulations of packet filtering, priority policy and QoS. Finally, an automated deployment mechanism for the proposed virtual router is realized to provide ease of use.
