The design of AC and DC inductors is discussed. There are three types of inductor designs covered, i.e., those with only AC voltage applied; those with a small AC voltage and a large superimposed DC current; and those with significant AC voltage and DC current. While the same fundamental theory applies for all designs, each design approach is considered separately. The design procedure for each type of inductor is developed with the intention of being implemented on a digital computer. A systematic approach easily implemented in a computer program for the design inductors is discussed.
