An output focus is becoming more common. Other changes include decentralization and managing the organization more horizontally. Setting performance goals and working in teams exemplifies this development. Although much of the literature on goal setting, research on goal setting in teams and empirical studies in public organizations is largely absent. This study contributes to the field of public management and teamwork by examining whether and under team conditions what objectives contribute to team performance in the public sector in Indonesia. Analysis of the survey data shows that clarity of objectives and self-management has a positive effect on team performance. The influence of clarity of objectives on team performance is not affected by teamwork, indicated by the insignificant effect of self-management and information elaboration. Suggestions are offered for future research to better understand goal setting in public sector teams. An ambiguity of objectives is generally present in public organizations in the face of difficulties in formulating clear and specific objectives. Such ambiguity exists because public goals often contain many sub-goals associated with various values simultaneously, some of which are difficult to capture with numbers. This research is carried out by conducting library studies, library studies are activities to gather the information that is relevant to a topic or problem which is the object of research. 摘要
