Dual Band Circularly Polarized Probe Feed Asymmetric Patch Antenna With Wide Axial Ratio Bandwidth
The dual-band CP antennas are receiving interest in recent times due to their functioning in two bands without changing their orientation for receiving the signals. An asymmetrically modified rectangular monopole antenna fed with coaxial probe is proposed in this article. It exhibits wide 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 40% (2.96-4.46 GHz) and 14.9% (5.12-5.94 GHz) in two bands with the help of defected ground having a slit. The proposed design also offers an impedance bandwidth of 83.5% (3.22-6.48 GHz), gain 4.05 dBic, and efficiency is more than 85% throughout the -10dB bandwidth range. A step-by-step evolution of the final design is explained in detail by including the effects of various alterations. The proposed design can be useful for S and C band applications includes wireless LAN-802.11b, 802.11g, and satellite communication among satellite and ground stations.
